What To Expect From Checkups
During your first visit, and once every following six months, Dr. Roberson will thoroughly examine your oral cavity. He will also make diagnoses and suggest treatments. This means he will become familiar with your current health status, set goals for excellent oral care, and assist you in creating a personalized treatment plan if you require procedures for improvement. What To Expect From Cleanings
When you see Dr. Roberson for a checkup, we also suggest a cleaning during your visit. While you may practice wonderful home hygiene, you simply cannot remove all of the plaque that adheres to your teeth every day. Only with the professional tools and practices of a dentist can you achieve clean, sparkling teeth. We offer the following options:
REGULAR DENTAL CLEANING
A regular dental cleaning is performed every six months for many patients, or at a three to four-month interval for other patients. At a regular dental cleaning, we do more than clean those teeth!
We will take x-rays if needed, measure the periodontal pockets, examine recession, remove plaque and tarter buildup with hand instruments and often with an ultrasonic water instrument. In addition, we also clean dentures, partials, night guards, bite splints, and retainers. At this visit, it is our honor to share tips and tricks with you on improving home care, to educate on oral health, and partner with you toward optimal oral health. Dr. Roberson performs an oral cancer screening at each visit and makes diagnoses and referrals if needed.
This is appropriate for patients of all ages.DEEP CLEANING
For patients with periodontal disease, we will clean beneath your gum line and smooth the surfaces of your teeth to begin guiding you back toward excellent periodontal health.
These cleanings often consist of multiple appointments and are also known as Scaling and Root Planning.
