LANAP And LAPIP—Laser Periodontal Therapy in Independence, MO

Laser Periodontal Disease Treatment

Periodontal disease (gum disease) is one of the most widespread dental health issues among adults, second only to tooth decay. When periodontal disease becomes severe, treatment could be crucial for saving natural teeth, and if you have dental implants, avoiding their failure and loss. Using the innovative LANAP and LAPIP protocols, Dr. Roberson can help treat more extensive forms of gum disease to prevent tooth loss and dental implant failure!

What is LANAP for Periodontal Disease?

Illustration

LANAP stands for Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure, and describes the use of a specially-calibrated soft-tissue laser designed to treat and trim sensitive gum tissues in a minimally-invasive procedure. Periodontal surgery trims away excessively diseased and damaged gum tissues to stop periodontal disease and allow your healthy gums to heal, stimulating the regenerate soft and bone tissues.
Treatment helps prevent complications, which could include tooth loss. LANAP allows us to perform the procedure with a laser, rather than a scalpel, which minimizes discomfort and promotes faster, more comfortable, and more comprehensive healing.

LAPIP

LAPIP stands for Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Protocol, and is a minimally-invasive treatment employed to help those who have developed serious periodontal disease, and currently have dental implants that could otherwise fail. The treatment is prescribed to treat peri-implantitis, an inflammatory reaction to gum disease that causes bone loss around a dental implant, which would otherwise lead to implant failure.
The LAPIP system removes diseased tissues and stops the progression of the disease, while also promoting healing in the gums and regeneration of the bone tissue around the implant, preserving your replacement tooth/teeth.
